ALCONBURY HIGH SCHOOL MEMORIES

1982 was a milestone year for Alconbury High School. Although the school previously existed, 1982 was the first year that eleventh and twelfth grades attended at Alconbury. No longer did we have to spend our school weeks in the dorms at Lakenheath or London Central. Alconbury was now a full fledged high school. As the graduates of 1982 prepare to celebrate our twenty fifth anniversary, I invite you to see where it all started by downloading and viewing this PDF file of the 1982 yearbook.

The first Alconbury High School Prom was held at Castle Ashby, Northampton on May 22, 1982. To view a photo gallery of Alconbury's first prom CLICK HERE.

One thing about living on a military base in England is that you never know when a member of the Royal Family is going to show up. I remember Prince Phillip visiting Alconbury during the time that I was there, and Prince Charles visited Lakenheath on a day that Susan Sprinkle just happened to be there. Here are some base paper clippings that she saved of the day. Also notice the officer on the right. General McInerney now does commentary on the Fox News Network.
